Pocophone F1 receives a big update with new features
Xiaomi has finally started rolling out a new software update for the Pocophone F1. Once you install the update, the phone will run on MIUI v10.3.4. This build is, of course, still based on the Android 9.0 Pie, and it comes with March security updates.
Now about the fun stuff. The Pocophone F1 is finally receiving Widevine L1 support. Due to it, the phone will be able to stream HD videos from services like Netflix. Other phones have received this support long ago, but it cool to have it at all.
Apart from this, Pocophone users will, now on, be able to enjoy even better gaming experiences. The phone will receive Game Turbo option which we’ve already written about. With this new option, gaming will be as convenient as ever. You won’t have to leave to game anymore to access settings like WiFi and SIM options, and you’ll also be able to use instant messaging applications like the Facebook Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, all while you’re in the game. These applications will now open in a pop-up window.
The update also includes improvements for face unlock. It’s now possible to lock specific apps and use face unlock to open them. Also, many bugs relating to this unlocking method are now fixed.
The camera is getting a huge improvement too. The Pocophone F1 will now be able to record 4K 60fps videos, which is a very welcome addition. Also, Xiaomi has imported more AI modes into the AI camera – obviously we didn’t have enough of those.
The update is coming Over-The-Air, and it’s being released in batches. If you don’t get it immediately, be patient, it’s coming. You can manually check for updates from the Settings menu – Settings > About phone > System update.
