MediaTek looks promising with Helio P series

MediaTek is working on new SoC for mid-tier phones, which is expected to take over that market. With new Helio P40 SoC, company is expecting support from brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Meizu, etc…

Cluster approach is already confirmed for new SoC, and it will contain two A73 cores in first cluster, along with four A53 cores in second cluster. This SoC will be built on 12-nm fabrication process, with Mali G72 GPU and LPDRR4 RAM memory.

Helio P40 is expected to be cheaper compared to competitor Qualcomm, with Snapdragon 670, which is going to be built on 10–nm architecture. It is believed that price of Helio P40 SoC will be about 11–12$.
