Huawei Mate 30 is coming and Huawei’s already working on it

Just yesterday, Huawei has made their new P30 and P30 Pro official, however, the company hasn’t stopped developing new phones. They are actively working on the successors to the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro – the Huawei Mate 30.

A company’s official has stated this at a press conference in Malaysia today. He said that the Mate 30 is currently in in-house testing by Huawei. The new Mate family is expected to come to the market in September or October this year, as reported by the same person.

What we know so far is that the Mate 30 will probably be powered by the upcoming Kirin 985 chipset. This will be an updated version of last year’s Kirin 980, and it will be the first chipset on the market built on a 7nm EUV process. This new manufacturing process allows for 20% greater transistor density. As opposed to the Kirin 980, the new Kirin 985 will have higher clock speeds, all the while using very similar CPU and GPU architectures. We also expect the Kirin 985 to come with a 5G modem built in.

Two months ago, Huawei’s patent showed up where we could see the upcoming official cases for the new Mate 30 Pro. What’s clearly visible is the size of the camera cutout as it’s much bigger than it was in the Mate 20 Pro. This suggests that Huawei will likely place even more camera sensor (presumably 5) on the back of the upcoming Mate 30 Pro.
