Google Maps AR navigation coming soon
Google's new addition to the Maps is a mix between the Steet View and Maps itself. Now the navigation app will be improved upon with Augmented Reality. First, Google will ship out the app to the Local Guides, a community of people inside Google Maps. It will take further testing and development before the update reaches general public.
The way the app works is quite simple. You simply start it, move your phone around to let it recognize where exactly you are and just start followin arrows. A good thing is that Google has implemented a nice little message that tells you to stop looking at the phone and watch where you're going.
This new technology is primarily built for smartphones, but its use will be the best once wearable Google Glass-like device hits the market. Until then, you'll have to stick to your phone as a primary device to go about a new city, and the AR assisted Maps can help you do it a little bit easier.
