In-display fingerprint scanner reaching 100 million sold by next year

The in-display fingerprint scanner has recently been growing quite popular on smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer and replacing the old mounted fingerprint scanner. According to the reports from Digitimes, By the end of this year, the amount of in-display scanner sold will be 42 million and 100 million by the time 2019 comes.
The technology of the in-display fingerprint scanner was just recently introduced to the industry which is built with an optical scanner that produces light with sensor capturing the image or an ultrasonic scanner that uses waves with the signal bouncing back the data which is more expensive. In order for the in-display fingerprint scanner to work, the smartphone must have an OLED panel.
One of the manufacturers of the in-display fingerprint scanner, Sigmaintell stated that such expensive sensors will be shipped to Korean smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung at a higher rate.
