Samsung Galaxy Note 9 announced – here’s what’s new
Samsung finally unveiled the latest device in their Galaxy Note series, the Note 9. This device is now the new Samsung's flagship and it also got a somewhat bigger display compared to the Note 8. On the front panel there is a 6.4" Super AMOLED display without a notch and with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels. This display also supports HDR10 color profile as well as Always On display.
Terribly placed fingerprint scanner on the S8 and the S8+, that found its way to the Note 8 as well, is moved to a much better location below the camera sensor. Something completely new is the S pen that now provides Bluetooth support and can be used as a camera shutter. Samsung also promised to unveil SDK of the S pen enabling application developers to implement new features into the pen. S pen's battery can last for up to 200 clicks, and it charges up in just 40 seconds.
Into their new flagship Samsung placed a 4000 mAh as well as an Exynos 9810 chipset. It it IP68 certified meaning that it is water and dust resistant, and it also pack stereo speakers. On the back this device has 2 camera sensors – 12 megapixel sensor with a variable aperture (f/1.5 – f/2.4) and a 12 megapixel f/2.4 telephoto sensor. Both cameras are optically stabilized and equipped with AI technology that recognizes scenes and enhances the colors. Selfie camera has stayed the same – it is still the same 8 megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture.
Basic model of this device will be on the shelves for $999, and it will pack 6 GB of RAM combined with 128 GB of internal storage memory, expandable up to 512 GB. The better, stronger version will pack 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, again expandable up to 512 GB, and this one will cost $1250. Note 9 comes in Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Purple and Metallic Copper color options.
