Android Oreo beta program now on Nokia 5 devices

After the update of Nokia 8 on the Android Oreo platform, beta testing of this system got launched for Nokia 6, just as the company promised. Juho Sarvikas, HMD's executive director, recently wrote on Twitter that the new system will be available on models 3, 5 and 6. You can now apply for a beta testing of the new system, if you own a Nokia 6 phone of course. Beta testing means the system is not yet fully ready, and you can help Nokia developers to find system bugs. Sarvikas also pointed out that the beta version for Nokia 6 can be expected in the near future.

Android system on these models is "pure Android", so with the new system you will not be overwhelmed by pre-installed applications. It was also explained why this update could not have come earlier. Since it's pure Android, the manufacturer of the chipset in the phone must first get permission from Google for any system upgrades, subsequently brands are releasing updates or beta test at their will. It was said that the beta program was not on the Nokia 6 phone before the Nokia 5 model because it had an "bug", so the HMD needs more time to test this model.

It was not announced when Nokia 5 will officially receive an update, but you should note that beta testing and the official announcement on the Nokia 8 phone were in spacing of exactly one month, so the Nokia 5 probably should have a update in about a month.
