Benchmark scores reveal A12 as a true monster
On the Apple event we heard Tim Cook saying that the A12 Bionic that powers this generation of iPhones is a very capable chipset. We can generally take his word, but it's very important to check his claim that this is the faster mobile chipset out there. This is why iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have been compared in multiple benchmarks to the best phones Android world has to offer. This is not exactly a fair comparison since the A12 Bionic is a 7nm chipset whereas the best chipsets in Android phones are only based on a 10nm process. Nonetheless, these are all current day flagships, so here are the results of different benchmarks.

Here we can see that iPhones are currently far beyond the reach of any Android phone out there. As we have already said, this is not really a fair comparison, and we can expect the Hauawei Mate 20 Pro to perform better than all other Androids since it will be powered by the Kirin 980, the first 7nm chipset to power an Android phone. We're yet to see how it will compare to the monster the A12 Bionic is.
