Estimate shows 50 million foldable phones in 2024
New research by IHS Markit states that foldable smartphones will reach 50 million sales in 2024. It doesn’t seem like a crazy estimate though. Several companies have announced their foldable phones, and we believe they will deliver to the promise over the next several years. So far, only Samsung has released the Galaxy Fold, but we all know how that went.
The technology is developing but it is still not really there. We’ll yet see the full potential of OLED displays. While we’re at the displays, the OLED technology is becoming more and more available. We’re seeing mid-range, or even low-end phones that have an OLED display implemented.
As the technology moved under the display, OLED panels have become more and more prominent. They are simply easier to manipulate compared to other types of screens.
