Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL officially announced, and here they are!

Google has officially unveiled two new devices, and these are the new Pixels – Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL. This year these phones got many upgrades, so keep reading to find out more!

Google Pixel 3

On the front panel we can find a 5.5" OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a somewhat bigger display compared to the predecessor with the resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. However, there are some new software changes. Now the display supports HDR, Always On display and color profiles. This display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 845 with a slightly different CPU settings than usual – the cores are clocked at 0.2 GHz less compared to other devices that are powered by the same chipset. More precisely, the CPU cores are clocked at 2.5GHz and 1.6GHz. Next to the chipset we have 4GB of RAM paired with either 64 or 128GB of non-expandable internal storage memory. This phone's battery has the capacity of 2915 mAh which is an upgrade compared to last year's iteration. It sadly doesn't have a 3.5mm audio port, but in the box we can find a USB-C headphones and a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Both phones are IP68 certified, and they come in three color options – Clearly White, Just Black, and Not Pink. This Not Pink is, of course, pink, and the naming scheme is only to mock the Apple naming scheme for their color options.

When it comes to the cameras, there is no difference between these two devices. Both have a single 12.2 megapixel sensor on the back which supports optical image stabilization. Now, in the camera interface, there are some new options next to the old things, which are Top Shot, HDR+, AI, Photobooth mode, Super Res Zoom and Night Shight mode that will soon come with with a software upgrade and will help the AI mode to enhance night time shots. Primary camera records 4K videos but only in 30 fps. On the front we have a double camera setup, and both sensors have 8 megapixel resolution, but shooting angles are different – 97° and 75°. On camera has the aperture of f/1.8 while the other has the resolution of f/2.2.

The main difference between these two devices is the size. The Pixel 3 XL, instead of a 5.5" uses a 6.3" OLED display with the resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels which translates to 532 pixels per inch. The aspect ration is also different in this device, 18.5:9, but in both cases we have a huge notch on the top of the display. The chin is also one of the biggest we have in mobile industry because it hosts a stereo speaker.

Another difference is the battery, since the Snapdragon chipset is here powered by a 3430 mAh battery. Both these phones now support wireless charging which will charge them with 10W power, just as the regular wired charger. Once the phone is connected to the Googles wireless charger it can act as a photo frame or an alarm clock. Everything else is exactly the same as in the smaller version.

Both these phones will be available from November 2, and the price is no joke either. The smaller, Pixel 3 with 64GB storage memory will cost around 850€, while the 128GB version will set you back 950€, the same as the Pixel 3 XL with 64GB storage. The most expensive phone of the lineup will be the Pixel 3 XL with 128GB of internal storage memory, and its price will be 1050€.
