Here’s why you should update to Pie as soon as possible
It is not a secret that no software is perfect. When in comes to Android, any version prior to Android 9.0 Pie is vulnerable to malicious software that exploits a flaw allowing apps to ignore permissions to gain access to system information. A research by the company Nightwatch Cybersecurity proved how easy it is to gain access to information such as the name of Wi-Fi network used by the device, BSSID, MAC address of the device, DNS server info as well as local IP addresses.

All this information provide valuable resources to hackers, meaning that they can do a lot of harm if not confronted. It is even worse knowing that less than 0.1% of Android users use the latest version of Android. Unfortunately, Google doesn't play to patch this exploit in earlier Android builds, so before upgrading to Pie, you should choose not to install any apps not found on the Play Store for your own protection.
