Huawei to announce new Kirin CPU

IFA 2018 is drawing near, and with many high profile exhibitors we can look forward to seeing some amazing new features in the smartphone world. One of these features is the new CPU developed by Huawei, the Kirin 980.

This chipset will be the first chipset made with the 7nm process. What this means is that Huawei is taking the lead, and we will not have to wait for new Samsung and Apple flagships to show what a 7nm porcessor is capable of. Because of the new technology, the size of CPUs will be reduced by 40% and it will also be up 40% more power efficient compared to 10nm CPUs.

Not only this, but the new Kirin 980 will have an LTE Cat. 19 modem attached, meaning that it will be able to reach up to 1.6 Gbps download speeds. It will be an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.8 GHz and it will have an accompanying Mali-G72 GPU that performed amazingly in games. You can rest assured – as soon as we get our hands on a device with this chipset, we will let you know what it is capable of, first hand.
