Huawei will ship devices with its new OS in October

A rumor in China goes that Huawei will launch new devices with its own HongMeng OS. The new OS will probably be named Ark OS for global markets, and the devices will come this October. This information comes from Guo Mingxi, an analyst with Tianfeng International, who said that Huawei will be ready for this move this Fall.

Still, the company won’t make any rash decisions, and will probably first put the new OS on entry-level phones, and start from there.

According to Global Times, the new OS was developed together with Tencent representatives, and Oppo and vivo were also present to test the new OS and found it about 60% faster than Google’s Android.

The OS will first be launched in China. The main reason why it won’t make the international market at the beginning is that the OS is, simply, still not ready. Huawei still wants to take its time and prepare the OS for the global market. Eventually, when Huawei’s ecosystem is developed, it will appear to global upper-tier units, like the eventual Mate 30 and P40 series.

The analyst also predicted that despite the troubles between the United States and China, Huawei will manage to meet its 200 million shipments milestone that they have set in 2018 and will push between 215 million and 225 million units, fortifying its second place in the world, even if it had to put on hold its aim to become the top manufacturer globally.
