Xiaomi Mi A3 will have in-display fingerprint reader

Xiaomi scored big time with their Redmi series, but they obviously don't have any plans to stop being amazing. According to a new rumor reported by XDA-Developers, the company is planning to introduce the in-display reader into their mid-range devices with codenames which suggest that they belong to the Android One program.

These phones are most likely the upcoming Xiaomi Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite. These two devices bring the codenames "bamboo_sprout" and "cosmos_sprout", where the "_sprout" suffix signifies that the devices belong to Android One. The third device codenamed "pyxis" might be the successor of the Xiaomi Mi 6X or Mi 7X.

It's not that expensive anymore to place the in-display reader into phones. Vivo, Oppo, and Samsung are only some of the manufacturers that have already placed an in-display reader into their mid-range devices. When it comes to Xiaomi, currently only the flagship Mi 8 and Mi 9 have this technology implemented, but we might see it soon in the Redmi series as well.
