Huawei Mate X passed through TENAA certification
We expected this year to be the year when foldable smartphones would finally become commercially available. We thought Samsung would win in this race with their Galaxy Fold, but we all know what happened with that. Meanwhile, Huawei took its time with the Mate X in order to avoid the same issue.
Now the Mate X has passed through China’s TENAA certification. Is listed as a 5G phone with a model number TAH-AN00. The listing revealed that the phone will come with an 8-inch OLED screen and the resolution of 2,480 x 2,200 pixels.
The TENAA listing shows a battery with the capacity of 4,400 mAh. The Mate X will come in three different memory configurations: 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB. All of them will support storage expansion via a Nano Memory card. We don’t really think that Huawei would release a 6GB RAM variant of such a high-end device, but even that option is certified.

Also, we now have the final dimensions of the device. When unfolded, the Mate X will measure 161.3mm x 146.2mm x 11mm and weigh 287 grams. A quad-camera setup lays inside the Mate X’s thick “bar”. The resolutions of the first three sensors are 40MP, 16MP, and 8MP, while the last one is a ToF sensor.
The Mate X will be equipped with Huawei’s 55W Super Charge system, but this is nothing new as we’ve known this since its announcement. Given the timing of the phone’s TENAA approval, the launch of the Huawei Mate X is imminent. Leaked press materials intended for the Russian market have pointed to a September release, but China could see it even sooner.
