Apex 2019 by vivo showcased with no buttons

New concept phone by vivo, called the Apex 2019 in now unveiled, and it's really a beast! It's powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, it comes with either 256GB of 512GB of on board storage, with 12GB of RAM, and with 5G network support. This phone has a very interesting design with no buttons or bezels.

I has a port, althouth not your typical USB port. The Apex 2019 has something vivo call MagPort – a magnetic port located on the back of the phone that's used for charging and data transfer.

This phone has a big 6.39" AMOLED display that also serves as a piezoelectric speaker. The bezels around the display are, as we've already said, very thin, and what's also interesting is that a selfie camera is nowhere to be seen. Another great feature is the in-display fingerprint reader, that this time isn't located at the single spot beneath the display, rather a huge portion of the screen serves as one making unlocking the phone as simple as possible.

The vivo Apex 2019 doesn't have any hardware buttons whatsoever. Into its concept phone vivo implemented a version of capacitive touch and pressure sensing technology that registers presses. Through this technology standard power and volume rockers are replaced, and what you're left with is a perfectly flush surface with the functionality of buttons.

On the back vivo Apex has a double camera setup – a 12 megapixel main shooter assiseted by a 13 megapixel secondary camera, together with an LED flash. In the images we can't see where the front facing camera is, or whether it even has one.

This is only a concept phone, which means that it won't exactly enter mass production, but judging by the past actions by vivo, we can expect a new phone to come to the market soon which will pack most if not all of the technology showcased in the Apex 2019 concept. This phone will officially be showed at the MWC in February.
