Honor 9X and 9X Pro now officially announced

The Honor 9X and 9X Pro are the first Honor phones that feature pop-up selfie cameras. These two phones are very similar, but not the same. The Pro version has an extra camera in the main setup and more memory overall.

The 9X phones both have a 6.59” IPS LCD screen with the resolution of 1,080 x 2,340px, similar to Huawei’s P Smart Z. Honor secured the all-screen design by removing the front-facing camera from the front panel and placing it on a pop-up mechanism. The phones come with a 16MP front sensor with the aperture of f/2.2.

The Honor 9X Pro, on the back, has a triple camera setup with a 48MP main sensor. It comes together with an 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The vanilla version doesn’t have the ultra-wide sensor.

They are both powered by the new Kirin 810 chipset, same as the Huawei Nova 5. This chipset packs an octa-core CPU and a Mali-G52 GPU. The phones run on Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 out of the box, with all its bells and whistles.

The Honor 9X will come with either 4 or 6GB of RAM paired with 64 or 128GB of internal storage, while the Pro model comes with 8GB of RAM and offers a choice of 128GB and 256GB storage (UFS 2.1).

The battery has the capacity of 4,000mAh, but no fast charging system – the USB-C port delivers the maximum of 10W. Next to the USB port, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the right edge of the phone, there’s a fingerprint reader.

The Honor 9X and 9X Pro will come in several nice colors and a not-so-subtle X mark on the back.
