Oppo patented 3 designs for their foldable smartphone

Not long ago, Samsung and Huawei were confirmed to be working on their foldable smartphone which will be unveiled next year while Microsoft and LG are still working on theirs. This time, it seems that Oppo is also gonna join the trend of foldable smartphones. The company was reported to patent three possible designs for their phone.

The first patent features a rotating hinge and a flexible display so that the device that can be unfolded horizontally, enabling users to extend the display size or held it in place whenever they wanted to.

The next patent contains three displays instead of one which has its own mechanism to make use of all its triple panels by stacking them on top of each other and unfolding them by pulling the panels out from the side which then widens its size by 3  and turning it into a long panel.

The last patent for the device is similar to the one of Samsung but still has its own uniqueness. While the design attributes a vertical fold, to prevent any long-term damages to the display caused by being folded and unfolded, it  makes use of some sort of airbags within its hinge mechanism to support the screen’s structure.
