Oppo presents first in-display front facing camera
Most phones have adopted the notch in 2018, and now it seems that the majority of manufacturers are migrating towards pop-up cameras and punch hole solutions. Oppo, on the other hand, is looking one step ahead in the race to an all screen phone. Today, the company’s VP Brian Shen posted a video on Weibo of a working prototype with a selfie camera built under the screen. Soon afterward, Oppo’s official Twitter account gave us another look at this new approach to selfie camera placement and it looks every bit as intriguing.

From the short 15-second video, we can see how the camera is launched and how it takes some sample shots. The new sensor is located in the upper middle portion of the screen.
While we don’t have much more info about the device or when it might release, the company’s VP commented that the optical quality of such sensors is still inferior to regular front-facing cameras and that it will take some time to perfect them.
