Xiaomi new patent shows new potential design

Xiaomi was just granted a patent at CNIPA (Chinese National Intellectual Property Agency) for a device with a quadruple camera setup on the back. On the front, the screen covers most of the panel. A dual selfie camera and an LED flash, on the other hand, are hidden behind a sliding mechanism similar to the one in the Mi Mix 3.

The images show a phone that has a lot in common with the Moto design element. However, there isn’t a fingerprint scanner, which suggests that it is probably going to be implemented beneath the display.

The schematics also reveal that the phone won’t come with a 3.5 mm audio jack. Its USB-C port on the bottom will be used for charging and headphones.

Another patent worth talking about is a phone with triple vertical camera setup on the back and a dual front-facing camera. It shows a phone with a special type of notch or a slight curve. It serves to minimize the size of the cutout in the front panel.

There isn’t a fingerprint scanner in sight here either, but that just means that it’s probably going beneath display once again. Whether these drawings will become an actual phone or is Xiaomi protecting its intellectual property without the intention to make it happen, we are yet to see.
