iPhone in 2021 will have in-display fingerprint reader
Ming-Chi Kuo, an experienced Apple analyst, boldly said that iPhone devices in 2021 will come with two biometric authentication methods. They will supposedly keep the Face ID but will also bring back Touch ID. Apple iPhone will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Keep in mind that Kuo claims this for 2021. Apple has never been in a rush to adopt new technology. They have always waited until the tech is stable and more polished before implementing into their phones with their own twist. When it comes to in-display readers, only recently have they become good enough, and on par with the regular scanners.

Kuo also talked about several things that Apple needs to fix before doing this. There are issues with power consumption, size of the sensing area, thickness of the module and the production yield rate of the lamination process. This will probably all be resolved within the following year and a half, more or less.
Most probably, Apple will use Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint technology. By the time Apple implements the technology into iPhones, it should work as intended. First up though, we will see 2019 iPhones in September – here’s what we know about it. Let’s not go too far ahead of ourselves.
