LG’s 5G phone to come next month with latest Snapdragon 855 chipset

LG has just confirmed that they will unveil their 5G device at the MWC 2019 next month. In August last year, LG has announced their partnership with Sprint in order to bring their upcoming 5G smartphone to the US. In Europe they will be pertnered with more than only one operator in order to ensure the availability of the device.

Today LG revealed three key features that their new phone will have. For starters, it will have 2.7x larger cooling chamber compared to the heat pipe built into the LG V40 ThinQ. This should solve the overheating issue since 5G technology is known to generate much higher temeratures than previous generations.

LG also states that a 4000 mAh battery will be implemented into this device – it is 20% larger that in the V40 ThinQ, which again means that the autonomy won't change despite the fact that 5G technology uses much more power.

All this makes sense since the leading 5G phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The new chipset by Qualcomm is built on a 7nm process and it bring performance boost of up to 45% compared to its predecessor, thanks precisely to the improved manufacturing process.

When it comes to the design of this smartphone, we still don't have too much information. However, based on all the analogies with the V40 ThinQ, we believe that there is a chance that the 5G device will in fact be a modified V40 ThinQ. Be it as it may, we're really happy to see that LG has dealt with the primary issues of 5G technology implementing a bigger battery and a new vapor chamber.
