New concept by Xiaomi – dual flex display
We already know that 2019 will be the year of foldable phones, so we're not too surprised to see Xiaomi working on one such device.

Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lin Bin has released an official statement to LetsGoDigital where he described the company's foldable phone, its unique design, folding mechanism, and MIUI adaptation. This should be the first phone to fold both ways, and its dual fold perfectly combines phone and tablet user experience. When the device is unfolded, both sides can be folded backward in order to transform from the tablet to compact phone mode. Unlike other foldable phones, this system looks much sleeker and simpler.

Furthermore, LetsGoDigital has posted 3D renders of the phone based on previous leaks. The showcased user interface doesn't reflect the final version of the MIUI that well though. When it comes to the camera, we can't see it in the image, so we assume it's placed on the back of the device, which means that you'll only need one fold to take selfies. Another possibility is that the camera is placed beneath the display, however, this technology is still not perfected with regular displays either, so we doubt that it will come to foldable displays this soon.

Regarding the name of the prototype, Xiaomi's considering two names, "Xiaomi Dual Flex" and "Xiaomi MIX Flex". It's definitely still too soon to speak about the announcement date of this phone since for now we only have a few prototypes available. It's possible that this phone gets announced in H2 2019 as stated in the official report from Korea, but we definitely won't see it at this year's MWC.
