Xiaomi Mi 9 SE bricked after OTA update

Several days ago, Xiaomi started delivering OTA updates to global Xiaomi Mi 9 SE devices. However, not everything is going according to plan. Some owners have reported that their devices have bricked after they’ve been updated.

There’s still no information about how many phones exactly are affected by this issue. We also don’t know whether there’s a way around the problem. We recommend simply not updating until Xiaomi fixes this issue. It’s been around four days since the first incident occurred and was reported on Xiaomi’s community forum.

The firmware in question is the MIUI 10.3.1.0 to EEA – an update for the European market. We’ve been told that the grey import handsets with flashed global ROM don’t have this issue – only Xiaomi Mi 9 SE devices that are purchased from Xiaomi’s official retailers in Europe.
